"I think searching is a beautiful thing. There is this thought that goes, If you search and search and stop searching, then ultimately you'll find what you need. But I think maybe if you don't search you wouldn't have the experience of searching and then won't find it at all. You have to search first, if you know what I mean. It's the experience of living."

Reboot
For those handful of folks that visit my blog I've decided a change of direction as far as my postings. Fall is literally in the air. It's cool and fresh outside, and Fall represents-- especially in New York City a time of rebirth. In the past I've devoted much of my blog to celebrity culture--but something change in me, or more specifically something changed in the world.
Celebrity culture is now all about FAME WHORES and I don't want to acknowledge, promote, or perpetuate this trend. ANYONE can be famous now, and all it takes is to be drunk, a slut, a douche, or all of the above.
On another level I'm tired of living in a world where Asians are not represented. That was my original intent on starting this blog, and that's the reason why the titled of my blog is REPRESENT. I open up a magazine and ALL I see are WHITE people. This sends a message to the masses that the ONLY people who are beautiful enough, smart enough, successful enough, and ultimately WORTHY enough are WHITE people. I watch movies and see advertising and ALL I see are WHITE people. I will not stand for this anymore. I refuse to tolerate this type of bigotry and bias. It's oppressive to me, it makes me angry and bitter. It frustrates me that I am not represented in main stream society and no one seems to care. I swear to god that some people I encounter are shocked when I open my mouth and fluent, unaccented English comes out of me--that's how bad and distorted Asian representation is in our world.
I plan on cancelling my subscriptions to GQ and Details magazine. Why should I give my money to an establishment that refused to acknowledge my existence. I will not support a system that continues to oppress me. Fuck that shit.I will continue to post stuff about music and books, because those are the two things I feel transcend oppression.
It's time for a change and it starts with me. -- xxxokd

White Trash Glam
I hated this song and now I like it, mainly because they played it on the radio EVERY 5 minutes when I was in Colorado. That's how a song becomes a hit: RADIO PLAY. Without it a song is dead. Basically they played the same 4 songs on the radio: California Gurl, that Billionaire song, the Eminem song, and some other random song.
I know the video is supposed to be a PSA announcement about the horrors of relationship violence, but seriously, it's just an ad glamourizing white trash.

Freja Heaven
If you know me then you're already familiar with my undying love and admiration for British Vogue. I LOVE BV!!!!! For their August 2010 issue they put one of my favorite models on The COVER of the magazine. Yes, shocking isn't it? Well, not really for BV, cause they're always putting models on their covers, which is the proper thing to do if you're representing yourself as a fashion magazine. AND there's even a whole feature story on Freja!! OMG.

Perfect Heat
I saw these pics in the July 2010 issue of Harper's Baazar UK and fell in love with the images. It features model Delfine Bafort, and for me the pictures capture a highly stylized portrait of a very chic summer spa getaway. A dream actually.
(p.s. let's not forget about the awesome Chanel clogs)
