I Heart British Vogue

Everything about British Vogue is better than American Vogue, even the ads are better in BV!! It's not just American Vogue, it's just America and the blandness and generic sense of style now ruled by celebrity culture (you can thank InStyle for that trend, thanks InStyle). Overall most European glossies (British GQ is awesome, and Vogue Hommes is amazing) are editorially far more superior than any American glossy .

Sexier, edgier, more playful and experimental, those Europeans have a sense and sensibility about style that sartorially clicks with my neurons and makes me tingle.  There's a fearlessness inherent in those magazines that I respect, and a representation of ideas that go beyond the status quo that I admire.

The irony is America is supposed to be a land where different ideas and perspectives are embraced.  This idea is still a myth or dream.  It's an idea that gives people hope I suppose.  In the media I still don't see or hear (and if I do on a rare occasion hear an Asian American speak in movies or tv it's with an accent) any representation of any Asian Americans, especially Asian American men, in both gay and straight cultures.  It seems like I don't exist. Where are my role models? America is  still ruled by the status quo.

p.s. Does Anna Wintour have an edict against showing teeth?  Here is Sienna Miller on the cover of the October 2009 issue of British Vogue showing her winning smile.  In the "September Issue" this smile was ridiculed!!!  Nobody smiles like this on Wintour's covers!  Instead you always get a half-ass smirk.
